Welk and Sons is often asked about how to paint drywall once we have appropriately prepared new gypsum board surfaces. Here are our recommendations for painting new drywall depending on your decorating preferences and the location conditions of the area to be painted.
After the drywall stage of your project is complete, you will need to apply one coat of a primer before you paint. This will seal up all the mud work and make your paint coats adhere better.
Normally a 1/2-inch nap roller cover is used for flat walls and a 3/4-inch nap size is used to paint walls and ceilings with a texture such as knockdown.
Apply one coat of drywall primer according to manufacturer instructions for surfaces you plan to paint.
